Know how many negative reviews your Steam score can take.

SteamStats reads your game's Steam user reviews every 45 min on Indie and every 10 min on Studio and Publisher. It shows the store score and its label, how many negative reviews in a row would drop it to the label below, new reviews by day, recurring complaints and themes, and players who changed their review.

Cosy puzzles with a clever twist on every island. Lost a whole Sunday to it and regret nothing.
Pebblewick store score, its buffer and a recent review.

Pebblewick, the fictional demo game, has 95.75% positive store reviews, which is Overwhelmingly Positive. Its buffer is 7: that many negative reviews in a row, with no new positive ones, would take it before Very Positive. It received 89 reviews this week, 3 of them negative.

What you see

  • Rating: the store score with Steam's label, and the score across all reviews.
  • Buffer: the negative reviews the score can take before its label drops, or how many reviews are left before Steam shows a label at all.
  • New reviews over the last 7 days, and the SteamDB rating.
  • A review feed filtered by All, Positive, Negative or Changed, by language and by text or author, with translation and a link to each review on Steam.
  • Reviews per day over 7 days, 30 days or all time.
  • Themes, complaints, review languages, changed minds (won back or turned negative) and the reviews Steam shows first on your store page.

The buffer is the number of negative reviews that can arrive, with no new positive ones, before the positive share falls below the current label's line. The store score counts the reviews Steam uses for the store summary; All counts every review. The SteamDB rating pulls games with few reviews toward the middle: score − (score − 0.5) × 2^(−log10(reviews + 1)).

Pebblewick, the fictional demo game, scores 95.95% on All and 90.79% on SteamDB.

Steamworks documentation explains why the store score and All differ: only reviews from accounts that bought the game on Steam count toward the store score, while reviews from key activations are listed but not counted. It also says that a score below Mixed makes a game less likely to be featured by Steam's algorithms, which is why the buffer matters most near that line.

Where the numbers come from

Reviews come from Steam's public reviews data. They refresh every 45 min on Indie and every 10 min on Studio and Publisher. Themes are refreshed weekly on Indie and daily on Studio and Publisher. Reviews are not fetched before launch.

What it does not do

  • It does not reply to reviews. Each review links to Steam, where the reply is written.
  • The label thresholds are the ones listed above, not a published Steam rule.

Plans

Scheduled reviews, the score buffer and translation are part of Indie, Studio, and Publisher. Radar has no scheduled refresh.
