Know what the game will earn, by year end and beyond.
SteamStats forecasts each game's net revenue to the studio for the next 30 or 90 days, 31 December and its first year, from its own sales. It shows four scenarios, Low, Expected, High and Viral, checks actual sales against Expected every day, and names what moved the forecast. Every past forecast is kept as it was made.

A forecast for a demo game
Pebblewick, the fictional demo game, has $169,945 booked since launch. The Expected forecast to 31 December is $353,201, between $272,002 on Low and $605,239 on High, with $1,050,372 on Viral. The rows under the chart are the reasons: each planned discount and the last week of sales against the forecast, with what each adds.
What you see
- Expected to 31 December, its change against the previous forecast, and the Low, Expected, High and Viral values on one scale.
- Actual vs Expected, day by day or added up: each day marked Above Expected, On track, Slightly below or Below.
- Forecast drivers: planned discounts and Steam sales on the calendar, and recent sales against the forecast, each with its effect in dollars or percent.
- Horizon tracker: net to studio or units, to 31 December or the first year, with the previous forecast for comparison.
- Booked so far, the next payout, and horizons for the last 7 days, the next 30 days, 31 December and the first year.
- Planned discounts and the forecast history.
How to read the four scenarios
- Expected is the middle outcome and the most likely total.
- Low and High are the lower and upper ends of the likely range.
- Viral is a rare upside case, for a breakout.
- Booked is net to studio already earned since launch. The forecast adds the expected rest of the year on top of it.
A new forecast is made when a sales day closes, when the calendar changes or when a price changes. Earlier forecasts are never edited or deleted, so the tracker can show what was expected on any past day next to what actually happened.
Where the numbers come from
The forecast is built from the game's own Steamworks sales, read with your Steamworks key, and from the discounts and Steam events on its calendar. The forecast refreshes daily on Indie, Studio, and Publisher; the sales under it refresh every 4 h on Indie and every 60 min on Studio and Publisher.
What it does not do
- It is a forecast, not a promise: a range of likely outcomes with the reasons behind it.
- There is no forecast before a launch date. Before launch the page shows a first-week estimate from the wishlist pool instead.
- It forecasts net to studio and units for your own games, in US dollars. It does not estimate other studios' games.
Plans
The forecast needs a connected Steamworks key, so it is part of Indie, Studio, and Publisher. Radar has no forecast.
