Connect your traffic and UTM reports
Traffic and UTM reports are not part of the Financial API key, so SteamStats offers two other ways to connect them. The SteamStats for Steamworks browser extension works while you are signed in to Steamworks in that browser. A service account needs only the View Marketing Traffic Data permission. Both are optional; wishlists and sales need only the financial key.

What these reports add
- Traffic: store impressions and visits, by the place on Steam they came from.
- UTM: visits from your own campaign links, with the wishlists, purchases and activations that followed.
- Through the extension only: partner reports such as refunds and playtime.
In SteamStats they feed the Traffic and Campaigns pages of the Store view. Traffic data refreshes daily.
Option 1: the browser extension
- Sign in to SteamStats and download the extension from Settings › Sources, then load it as an unpacked extension; the steps are listed next to the download. It runs in Chromium browsers such as Chrome, Brave and Edge.
- In the same browser, sign in to Steamworks as usual.
- In SteamStats, open Settings › Sources and choose Connect browser on the extension card. The first sync starts at once.
- After that the extension syncs by itself. Sync now in its popup syncs at once.
The extension opens only Steamworks report pages and never signs in for you. If you are signed out of Steamworks, its popup says Steamworks sign-in needed and offers to open Steamworks. Disconnect in the popup removes the connection from that browser; disconnecting it in SteamStats ends it everywhere.
Option 2: a service account
- In Steamworks, open Users & Permissions › Manage Users and invite the SteamStats address shown on the service account card in Settings › Sources.
- Give that user only View Marketing Traffic Data on your games.
- Approve the new user when Steamworks asks. Valve's documentation says an administrator confirms a new user within 7 days.
- SteamStats then reads the reports once a day and sees nothing else in your Steamworks account.
If the card says available soon, the service account address is not ready yet, and the extension is the way to connect.
Which one to choose
The service account needs nobody's browser to be open and is the recommended path once it is available. The extension needs a browser that is signed in to Steamworks, and in return it also brings refund, wishlist cohort and playtime reports.
