See where your genre has room on Steam.

SteamStats tracks Steam's store every day for upcoming and recently released games and their tags. Market shows how much demand and supply each of your game's tags has, which nearby tags have room, how comparable games perform, and which similar games launch in the same week as yours.

The supply and demand map for a demo game

Supply and demand

Loading chart
Genre tags by supply and demand, with the demo game's tags named and the game as a ring.

Pebblewick, the fictional demo game, is tagged Puzzle, Cozy, Relaxing, Exploration, Logic, and Adventure. On the map, 6 of those tags appear, and the game's ring sits in Quiet. Cozy is in Open: wanted by players, with fewer games on the way.

What you see

  • Demand: how many of the last year's releases in one of your main tags reached 500 or more reviews, marked Strong, Holding or Below against a typical tag.
  • Supply: how many new games joined the tag in the last 90 days, and Open space: the nearby tag with the most room.
  • Peers: comparable games with their release date, price, reviews and followers, and suggested games that share your tags.
  • The supply and demand map, split into Open, Crowded & wanted, Quiet and Crowded.
  • Tag landscape: each of your tags with its releases, upcoming games and momentum.
  • Launch week: games that share at least three of your tags and release within a week either side of your launch date.

How to read the map

  1. The map holds about 40 active tags: the ones that describe your game, then the busiest tags on Steam right now.
  2. Further right means more competition on the way: more upcoming games compared with what has already been released.
  3. Higher up means more player demand: the strongest games in the tag draw more players.
  4. Each tag is placed relative to the others on the map, and the map is split into four quadrants. Your game's ring shows where its tags sit together.

Where the numbers come from

Market comes from public Steam store data, updated every day and covering upcoming games and the past year of releases with their tags. It does not use your Steamworks key, and no other studio's private data is in it.

What it does not do

  • Demand reflects player interest, not sales.
  • It does not estimate other games' revenue or wishlists.

Plans

Market is on every plan, Radar included, because the scan is shared. Plans differ in how many comparable games each game can track: 3 on Radar, 10 on Indie, 25 on Studio, and 50 on Publisher.
